A NEW LIFE IN THE NETHERLANDS!

ADAPTING TO A NEW COUNTRY AND A NEW CULTURE

The Dutch culture (a cultura holandesa) is expressed through language, through social structures and habits, through the way people communicate with each other.

This culture is subtle (sutil) and we are discovering it slowly (lentamente), day by day.

Dutch society is a highly complex, multi-cultural, mix of historic and modern influences, whose daily practice and social behavior may not live up to the values and etiquette that we are accustomed to.

DID YOU KNOW … (VOCÊ SABIA…)

DUTCH is an adjective and is connected with the Netherlands, its people or its language.

BUT… (mas…)

DUTCH (informal) is an idiom and it means: to share the cost of a meal, equally.

Ex.: When we were students and went out to dinner, we always went DUTCH.
